From reality to the imaginary

To be born in Morocco and spend the springtime of one's life there is to be imbued with the spirit of the orient.
Crossing the Mediterranean to France in 1968 brought her first contact with Latin culture. This bi-culturalism, far from creating confusion, has led to a cultural synthesis. From these different sources she has drawn out the Berber ethic of Freedom and the French ethic of Liberty. This process was achieved without constraint and she has become mistress of her own destiny.
Without relinquishing her convictions, she has assimilated these spiritual values into a philosophy based on a moral code : respect for oneself and for others, loyalty and love of one's fellows.

The works of this artist display her duality in the stylised human figures, captured on two levels : firstly with objective vision, secondly, imaginatively ; with a supra-real dimension. In fact Fatima Binet sees in their fleshly beings only a theme leading to ever-expanding variations.
Observing these women who reveal their bodies to us, we realise that, behind their closed features, they conceal the essential of their being : the mystery of the soul.

A student hesitating at the cross-roads was given the following advice by Doctor Faust : « Make your way between the two paths, but be sure to gather the fruits and flowers from both...
Fatima Binet has not needed to ask advice to find her own path. Proof may be found in these works, stamped with unmistakable personality.
This is Painting, which can only be written with a capital P.
